Known also as Kukishin-Ryū, Kukami-Ryū, Kukishin-Ryū Chōsui-ha (九鬼神流澄水流) or hontai kishin chōsui-Ryū Kukishinden Daken taijutsu (本体馗神澄水流九鬼神伝打拳體術). We can find three genealogies for the different branches that use the name Kukishin-Ryū. Izumo kanja yoshiteru, the Ōkuni family, and the Kuki family, are the three genealogies we can find. Developed in the Ise region, very close to Iga, among pirates, outcast warriors looking to legitimize their name and earn their nobility rank, all the interactions, connections, and relationships show how the history is as deep and rich as the science of combat and all the different disciplines represented in this ryū-ha. What we can say is that the waza and the science of this ryū-ha was known from Takamatsu sensei who compiled most of the text, waza curriculum, started the teaching that he received from Ishitani sensei. The bio-mechanics of this ryū-ha is based on the koryū’s way of using the body according the armor and the battlefield, sea battle, ship’s movement, warfare, pirate’s methods, etc.
The practice of long weapon, short weapon expresses the way of how to use the body from a far distance and getting closer. The understanding of each human’s states such as Flexibility, strength, weakness, power in order to reach the mutō (無刀) no weapon, no saber, being able to face any enemy with or without weapons. The gokui of this ryū ha is Ittō mantō (一刀万刀刀), from one saber (one technique, one weapon, one movement) born ten thousand saber (attack, movement, waza, tactics, etc.) .
